Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) was formed on 29th November 1979, by the Government. MOC is the main national body, affiliated by all Olympic sports associations in the country. Thus, the activities of the MOC include training Olympic athletes, organising sports competitions, assisting private organisations in the area of sports, procurement of foreign assistance, and organising the participation of Maldives in international meets. Further, in order to promote traditional sports, MOC has revived and developed Bashi, a local women’s sports, encouraging players.

 

Administrative Activities of MOC

promote and develop sports activities in association with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

work together with, and advice, all associations affiliated with the MOC.

train athletes for the Olympics and other major international events, and, in consultation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, network with international sports associations

obtain assistance from foreign Olympic Committees as per regulations.

Participation in Courses and Tournaments

All courses and trainings, except those specifically targeted to special groups, are open to the public in general.

 

Assistance

MOC renders assistance to many organisations. The assistance is provided to the most deserving clubs and associations in the Atolls, based on their activities and needs.  Such assistance includes technical and material aid.
